Amari Kato is the last of her kind - an orphan running on borrowed time, haunted by loss and fueled by the promise of revenge.
Taliya Camry, meanwhile, is a street thief and hired blade. She grew up in the city's underbelly, where loyalty is a luxury and trust will get you killed.
When Amari makes a mistake too big to ignore, the second is sent to eliminate the problem. As a growing threat stirs beneath the city, both girls find themselves drawn into a conflict they can't walk away from. The lines between enemy and ally blur, the city teeters on the edge of chaos, and soon, taking sides isn't so simple. Whether they like it or not, Amari and Taliya are caught in the middle - and their choices may decide what burns and what survives.

⭐⭐⭐⭐ Loved it! 😍
Adventure and rich world-building in a magical city, where survival depends on unraveling hidden threats... without getting caught.
From the very beginning, readers are immersed into a world brimming with errant magic, where Rooftop Kings run the streets. B. R. Michaels masterfully crafts a vibrant landscape, contrasting the dilapidated streets of the impoverished with the magically maintained suburbs of the elite. Amari guides us through a colorful realm filled with intrigue. One particularly striking moment occurs when she races past a magically volatile street, feeling the magnetic pull of the magic itself.
“[Magic] clings to the streets like an errant spark, unpredictable and often as dangerous as it is useful.”
The world-building is, for me, the most captivating aspect of the story. The most memorable scene is when Amari describes her pieced-together home and her ghastly roommate. This seemingly simple moment is so visually appealing that I found myself wishing Amari would return there just for the pleasure of revisiting it.
Overall, I recommend “Shatterpoint: An Amari Kato Novella” to anyone seeking an adventurous escape into a richly diverse world.
